Thank you for visiting our site for feature film development.
'Step Into the Silent Land' is a psychological drama about identical twin girls Rachel and Sarah (16). The feature film is being developed from a short film 'Into the Silent Land' which we shot at Happisburgh Lighthouse, Norfolk two years ago. The film took us over a year to complete, with trips to Seattle to get the 16mm footage processed (yes it was cheaper to fly to Seattle and stay in a youth hostel than to process the stock in London). So that is what I did. I did find some time to go whale watching so it wasn't all work whilst in the wonderful city of Seattle.
Since then the film was sold at The Short Film Corner, Cannes and is currently enjoy a festival circuit. It will be screening as part of the Aesthetica Film Festival in York (Nov 8th-11th) which i'm thrilled about.
So with the feature film I'm been busy working with colleagues to develop the story and explore what I really want to say with this film.... this is taking longer than I thought!
But today I installed Final Draft on my mac and this weekend I am starting to write the screenplay.
This is my favourite still from the short film...

Into the Silent Land at Clermont Ferrand
Campbell Cloud Films had a great time at the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival. It really was one of my best festival experiences. Despite arriving to freezing cold weather and a complete white out (I think the airport closed). But the festival was so friendly and Val and I met some great people. Both filmmakers with films in competition and those in the short film corner.
We pitched our feature film to some industry contacts and got some great feedback.
It was also so inspiring to see such a great range of films in competition and to see short film taken so seriously....
There were also some great parties!

INTO THE SILENT LAND is a short film shot on Super 16 mm about identical twin sisters who holiday near a working lighthouse on the North Norfolk coast.
The film is completely self-financed by the two producers Val Hanson and myself. We gained sponsorship from Kodak, Panavision, Panalux and Deluxe Post Production. We also gained support from i Lab, London and Alpha Cine, Seattle.
Everyone gave their time for expenses only and worked round the clock to get this film made. We also had amazing support from the Happisburgh Lighthouse Trust who allowed us unlimited access to the beautiful Happisburgh Lighthouse for a week in July 2010.
We took the film to the Cannes Short Film Corner in May and secured a distribution deal.
If you haven’t already seen the trailer here it is!
